M. Lohrum is an artist and independent curator currently working between London and Tenerife. She was born in the Canary Islands (Spain) where she graduated In Fine Arts through the Interdisciplinary Projects route in 2013 from the University of La Laguna (ull) achieving the 'Premio Extraordinario de Fin de Carrera', a prize awarded to the most outstanding graduate in Fine Arts (2013). She later obtained a Scholarship of the British Government for artistic studies and moved to London to study a two year Masters Degree in Fine Art at the worldwide renowned Central Saint Martins College (2015-2017), where she developed a professional art practice and an exceptional networking thanks to the strict selection process of the university.

In recent years, she has participated as an artist in relevant international group exhibitions such as We Take no Responsability (2017, Copenhaguen, Denmark), Badenfahrt 18 (2017, Baden, Switzerland), Complex Topography, Movement and Change as part of the Setouchi Triennale at Ritsurin Garden​ (2016, Takamatsu, Japan), Degree Show One at Central Saint Martins (2017, London, UK), and several participations in the programmes What is an Art School?, Studio Complex, and Come Together: Art and Politics in a Climate of Unrest, curated by Alex Schady in collaboration with Tate Exchange (2017, 2018, and 2019, Tate Modern, London, UK). Her project ‘Re-Thinking the Trace’ was selected by TEA (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes) to be exhibited along 2018 and 2019 at Red de Espacios TEA (Tenerife, Spain).

She also participated in the art residency programmes D2P Residency (2018, Brighton, UK), Sample Micro-Residency (2017, Central Saint Martins, London) and Tokyo Geidai Residency (2016, Tokyo, Japan), and in the peer mentoring group of the Artquest’s Life Boat Residency (2018, London).

She self-curated her solo shows Re-Thinking the Trace (2018-2019, Red de Espacios TEA, Tenerife) Homo Videns-Homo Imago (2014, Espacio Cultural el Tanque, Tenerife), Teatro de lo Absurdo (2014, Ermita de San Miguel, Tenerife), co-curated Eat Sleep, Print, Repeat (2017, Parfit Gallery, London), and developed logistics and organization tasks for the exhibition Generación Difusa (2013, Centro de Arte la Recova, Tenerife).

M.Lohrum es una artista y comisaria independiente nacida en San Cristóbal de La Laguna y actualmente establecida entre Londres y Tenerife. En 2013 se graduó en la facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de la Laguna, por el itinerario de Proyectos Transdisciplinares, obteniendo el Premio Extraordinario de Fin de Carrera. Posteriormente se trasladó a Londres con una beca concedida por el gobierno británico para la ayuda en estudios artísticos (Vice-Chancellor Scholarship) para estudiar un máster de Bellas Artes de dos años de duración en la internacionalmente reputada universidad de las artes Central Saint Martins. Allí desarrolló su práctica artística profesional y estableció una red de contactos excepcional, ya que debido a su reputación internacional, dicha institución recibe miles de solicitudes y realiza un proceso selectivo muy estricto.
En los últimos años, M.Lohrum ha participado como artista en relevantes exposiciones colectivas a nivel internacional, como We Take no Responsability (2017, Copenhague, Dinamarca), Badenfahrt 18 (2017, Baden, Suiza), Complex Topography, Movement and Change como parte de la Triennale de Setouchi en el Jardín Ritsurin​ (2016, Takamatsu, Japón), Degree Show One en Central Saint Martins (2017, Londres, Reino Unido), o varias participaciones en los programas What is an Art School? y Studio Complex, comisariados por Alex Schady en colaboración con Tate Exchange (2017 y 2018, Tate Modern, Londres, Reino Unido).
También participó como artista en los programas de residencia Sample Micro-Residency (2017, Central Saint Martins, Londres) y Tokyo Geidai Residency (2016, Tokio, Japón). Recientemente ha sido seleccionada para realizar 3 exposiciones individuales autocomisariadas en la Red de Espacios TEA en 2018, y como artista invitada para los paneles de discusión del programa de residencia artística Life Boat (Londres).
Ha ejercido la labor de comisaria en sus exposiciones individuales en Tenerife, Re-Thinking the Trace (2018-2019, Red de Espacio TEA, Tenerife), Homo Videns – Homo Imago (2014, Espacio Cultural el Tanque, Santa Cruz de Tenerife) Teatro de lo absurdo (2014, Ermita de San Miguel, La Laguna), de co-comisaria en Eat, Sleep, print, Repeat (2017, Parfit Gallery, Londres, Reino Unido), y desarrolló tareas de gestión y organización de la muestra Generación Difusa (2013, Centro de Arte La Recova, Santa Cruz de Tenerife).
