“An obsessive image creator attempting to overcome the disparity between tactility and representation.”
In her practice, she explores the relationship between tactility and representation, a recurring theme in her projects. In a world of (digital) images, Pearlie Frisch focuses on scanning the world through the lens, both photographically and cinematically. Paradoxically, she is particularly interested in the tactile sensation and material properties of objects. She also works with clay, porcelain, and plaster. For shaping her objects, she runs her fingers over the material, searching for forms in search of a relationship between the physical matter and touch. This differs from her image practice. While photography is defined by representation, sculpting becomes a direct encounter between hands and material. Her performative and installation-based works address questions of physical proximity, touch, and corporality, as well as temporality and transience. She has received awards and bursaries for her artistic work and exhibited in Switzerland, the UK, Spain, Malta, and Türkiye.
Pearlie Frisch is an artist and lecturer. She studied “Contemporary Photography: Philosophies and Practices” at Central Saint Martins in London (2014-16) and “Book Arts & Design” at London College of Communication (2011-14) as well as “Artistic Research” at Accademia Teatro Dimitri (2017-19) and “Art Education in Aesthetic Education” at Zurich University of the Arts (2020-21). Currently she is pursuing a Master‘s degree in “Art History and Image Theory” at the Universities of Basel and Zurich. She works as an art guide at the Fotomuseum Winterthur, as well as a lecturer of art and design theory at the Foundation Course of Lucerne School of Arts and Design (HSLU).

«Una creadora de imágenes obsesiva que intenta superar la disparidad entre la tactilidad y la representación».
En su práctica, explora la relación entre la tactilidad y la representación, un tema recurrente en sus proyectos. En un mundo de imágenes (digitales), Pearlie Frisch se centra en escanear el mundo a través de la lente, tanto fotográfica como cinematográficamente. Paradójicamente, le interesan especialmente la sensación táctil y las propiedades materiales de los objetos. También trabaja con arcilla, porcelana y yeso. Para dar forma a sus objetos, pasa los dedos por el material, buscando formas en busca de una relación entre la materia física y el tacto. Esto difiere de su práctica pictórica. Mientras que la fotografía se define por la representación, la escultura se convierte en un encuentro directo entre las manos y el material. Sus obras performativas y basadas en instalaciones abordan cuestiones de proximidad física, tacto y corporalidad, así como de temporalidad y fugacidad. Ha recibido premios y becas por su trabajo artístico y ha expuesto en Suiza, Reino Unido, España, Malta y Turquía.
Pearlie Frisch es artista y profesora. Estudió «Fotografía contemporánea: Filosofías y prácticas» en Central Saint Martins en Londres (2014-16) y «Artes y diseño del libro» en el London College of Communication (2011-14), así como «Investigación artística» en la Accademia Teatro Dimitri (2017-19) y «Educación artística en la educación estética» en la Universidad de las Artes de Zúrich (2020-21). Actualmente cursa un máster en «Historia del Arte y Teoría de la Imagen» en las universidades de Basilea y Zúrich. Trabaja como guía de arte en el Fotomuseum Winterthur, así como profesora de teoría del arte y el diseño en el curso básico de la Escuela de Arte y Diseño de Lucerna (HSLU).
